Angelica Martinez

Angelica Martinez holds a PhD in Arts, Technology, and Emerging Communications from the University of Texas at Dallas. Her research explores the multiple ways in which emerging digital technologies are shaping motherhood work in contemporary United States. She argues that a deep study of labor and technology is crucial to understanding motherhood identity. Angelica's work appears in various forms, including visual posters, video essays, written publications, and book chapters. She is currently teaching Transnational Film at the University of Texas at Dallas, as well as Art Appreciation and Design I at Dallas College.

Biography:

Angelica was born in Mexico, where she completed her Bachelor's in Communication Science at Tecnológico de Monterrey. After graduation, she moved to Saint Petersburg, Russia, to pursue a Master’s in Management (International Business Development) at St. Petersburg Polytechnic University on a scholarship from the Russian Ministry of Education. In 2019, Angelica moved to the United States to begin a fully funded PhD program at the University of Texas at Dallas, from which she graduated with a PhD in Arts, Technology, and Emerging Communications. For her doctoral studies, Angelica was awarded the CONACYT fellowship from the Mexican government and the Doctoral Dean Fellowship to complete her dissertation research.

Throughout her career, Angelica has also worked as a Digital Marketing Specialist, building the online presence of small and medium-sized enterprises. She holds a META Digital Marketing Associate Certification, Google Analytics Certifications, and a Wix Partner Certification.

Her interests include motherhood issues, labor studies, digital platform studies, geopolitics, and visual culture.
